Editorial Policy

This site publishes information people use to make decisions about where they live and how they are taxed. That sets a standard, and this page states it plainly so you can hold us to it.

Sourcing

Every article cites at least one authoritative source, and this is enforced by the site's build: an article without a source cannot be published. For tax and legal claims we cite the primary source — the state's own department of revenue, the IRS, or the statute — not a secondary summary of it. For labor market figures we cite the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Census Bureau, or the agency that produced the data.

Where a claim is contested or a rule is applied inconsistently between states, we say so rather than pick the tidier version.

What we will not publish

• Job listings for roles that do not exist. Every listing on this site is a real vacancy from a real employer, carried from a job board with attribution. We do not create listings. Candidate profile data collected with consent is kept separate from our editorial process and never affects listing placement.
• Pages written to fill a template. A state page is published with our own analysis only when that analysis has been written. States without it show reference data and are kept out of search indexes until the writing is done. We would rather have fewer real pages than fifty interchangeable ones.
• Specific tax rates presented as current without a linked source and a date, because a stale rate is worse than none.
• Content generated to fill space. If we have nothing useful to say about a topic, we do not publish a page about it.

Accuracy and corrections

Tax rules change between legislative sessions, and job data changes daily. When we find an error, or a reader reports one, we fix it and note the change on the page with the date. Substantive corrections are marked as corrections — we do not quietly edit a claim and leave the page looking as though it always said the new thing.

To report an error, email hello@jobsnode.com with the page and what is wrong. Corrections to tax and eligibility information are treated as urgent, because those are the pages people act on.

Advertising and independence

This site is supported by display advertising. Advertisers have no input into what we publish, no advance sight of it, and no ability to have a page changed or removed. Ads are visually distinct from editorial content.

We do not accept payment from employers to feature, rank or promote a job listing. Listings are ordered by date, not by anything commercial. If we ever add affiliate links, they will be disclosed on the page where they appear.

We explain how state tax rules generally work for remote workers. That is not the same as advice about your situation, which depends on facts we do not have. JobsNode is an independent site. It is not affiliated with any employer, job board, recruiter or government agency. Where we rely on another organization's data — such as job listings from Himalayas — we say so on the page and link back to them.
